The essence of light

is held within her

filling each gesture

of strength

with a radiant spill

Ancient compassion

glittering and unafraid

this generous nobility

steadfast

within her glance

~

Those who bear Light

are given to this work

willingly 

they enter the shadows

and the dark lands

~

The bearers are called

sojourning by grace

 to travel where light is required

~

 This kindness is a key

unlocking the gates

of each grieving prison

that has no other release

~

We each bear a given light

and the need to bring it forward

the intimate responsibility 

we have to this world 

and those we care for

yet we often lose our way

~

So the Essence Bearers come to us

Poles of Knowledge

Poles of Mercy

Poles of  Light

~

Show us this glittering courage

this unflinching generosity of soul

that we may learn to breathe deeply

into our kinship 

with all of creation

and the essence of life
